Ottawa Book Launch, from pecs to boots

Many thanks to Collected Works for hosting Escape Clause‘s Ottawa debut.

The divine Leslie Brown

Me, giving voice to a desperate (and invisible) housewife

Phil “Muscleman” Voyd

Hordes of adoring readers

About forty people turned out to listen to readings by Leslie Brown, who showed off her Italian; Phil Voyd, who flexed his pecs, delts, and abs (all in the name of literature, of course); and myself, reading my invisible housewife poem.  We had audience members sitting on the floor and squashed into little alleyways between shelves.

It was the first time my brother or grandmother had come to one of my book events and I was touched to see them there.

We retired to the Table Restaurant across the street for an apres-launch bite.

I include a gratuitous picture of my outfit for any fashionistas.

Miniature book earrings:  birthday gift from my friend Genevieve

Shirt:  Dollface clothing

Skirt:  R.E.D. Celou

Leggings:  Hue

Boots:  La Canadienne “Stella” cherry patent leather faux crocodile.  Utterly comfortable and kickass.
